Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the characterizations rang true.
I've always presumed a fanwank similar to what I wrote, and was surprised with all the fanfic around SoG, so few had actually followed that line (I think I've only run across one other story where they even came close to actually doing any sort of straw drawing, and that was still a bit different than how I thought it went down). I'm glad you liked my spin on the story. :-)
As for the ending. LOL. Truth be told, "Drawing Straws" was supposed to only be the actual straw drawing scene in Daniel's office. My muse decided to go hog wild with scenes with Jack beforehand and Daniel and Teal'c, and Hammond angst when Sam comes bursting in his office and flushing Makepeace out more and...LOL.
I may toy with writing a tag to this story, but I liked the symmetry of ending on the button of Jack comtemplating the mystery that we the audience now already know, considering how his team was left in the dark the whole tale in the episode. And as you point out, the post episode fallout has been dealt with several times by many talented writers, including ELG's fantastic "Ripples" (http://www.bunnyfic.com/ELG/Ripples.htm) (Though I tend to think of that one as an unique sequel story rather than a direct tag SoG scene).

Thanks again for letting me know!
