Single, not widowed? And as far as the degrees are concerned, canon is all over the place with that. He was just an Egyptologist in the movie (just, she says), but that's overwritten by canon, where he is most emphatically an archeologist and also a linguist. (Katherine specifically calls him that in TBFTGOG, although maybe he had different degrees in that universe.) Then here in S6, the linguistics isn't mentioned and anthropology is. And in S9, he's got all three, except that the linguistics becomes philology...
