I *love* Smoke and Mirrors, but I seem to be in the minority...and for many of the same reasons you give (plus I loved those Foothold aliens).

Actually most of the time, Jonas recites files back to the others (which is why he's so shocked in Smoke and Mirrors). However, he does this in an innocent encylcopedia way rather than Mitchell's delivery...until he realizes he's weirding everybody out, because it's you know...weird.

Let's see a Daniel-fan's guide to Season Six (besides the THREE) from my OWN biased but Daniel-friendly opinion.

Redemption Part 1 & 2: These are among the BEST most AWESOME Teal'c scenes ever, and Stargate fans who don't watch the eps for those alone are missing out. It has McKay in snarky glory as well. Jonas's introduction is done with expectant awkwardness and not overly bad. I think they should've gone with AT's gut reaction in the Daniel/Jonas office scenes though.

Descent--well, the beginning is good, but even Jonas tolerator me finds the "Jonas is awesome. Like him" a bit hard to swallow. Plus signs, cool effects, and Major Davis spotting. Oh and wet SG-1.

Frozen. MMV, but I found it was an episode where they stuck Jonas into something better suited for Daniel's role. However, Lone Gunmen alert for X-Files fans. And Janet rocked out. Ancienty lore explored. And another reason on Jack's checklist of why Antarctica is his least favorite continent.

Nightwalkers. Many people hate this episode because A) Poor Man's X-Files, and B) Lack of Jack. I love it. I thought Sam was great as the leader (sam's my second fav after Daniel, so I'm biased towards her too). If you liked Teal'c and Jonas in Smoke and Mirrors, you'll love them here. Sam slaps Jonas and Jonas starts realizing how weird people find him. Oh, and did I mention SG-1 in civvies? Cool.

Abyss...you know.

Shadow Play. Well, if you're really not a fan of Jonas, don't watch this one because it's a return to Kelowna. If you like Al from Quantum Leap though, you'll be torn, because Dean Stockwell's really sweet as Jonas's old mentor.

The Other Guys. Sometimes (unfortunately) known as Felger I. I love the Other Guys. I love Coombs (John Billingsly) with the requisite snark that dials down Felger's, er, Felgerness. It's a humor episode, and I liked it as such (and is why others hate it). If you wondered what the deal was with that first prime in Full Circle, you'll find out here. Besides, it has an all time favorite Jack line: "You ended that sentence with a preposition, bastard!"

Allegiance. You HAVE to see this one. Jacob AND Bra'tac. Jack and Jacob heart to heart. Angst and conspiracy! Jack + Big Gun. Oh, and I don't think Jonas was even in the episode, if it was, it was a brief cameo.

Cure. Well, you'll learn more than you ever wanted to about Tok'ra in this one. It's a more classic team episode. Once again, Jonas refers to Dr. Jackson's notes as he and Teal'c try and figure things out while Sam and Jack are paired up. I find it pretty meh, but it is funny when Jonas does a nose dive into a pit of Goa'uld.

Prometheus. In my utterly biased opinion, this is one of the worst episodes ever. It's just bad, stupid, bad. I hate what they did with Q. Even Jack pointing out how insanely bad an idea it is doesn't save it. Sigh. But others don't share my hatred. Good points: Sam does a total MacGyver action shtick. Teal'c and Jack save the day (though I hate that sequence). Major Davis sighting.
