Okay, I think I've been "tagged" three times so far, so I'd better do this meme.

Post a list of your top five fics favorite you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Plus it's meta, and I love *meta*. I've been enjoying everyone elses responses to the meme. Oh, and if you haven't done or seen this meme yet...then "tag", you're it too. :-p (I mentioned I loved meta right?)

So, um, my five favorite stories (all SG-1, all gen) But all my stories have special places in my heart.

1) Just A Scientist
This was my second fic in fandom, and it's still my favorite. I wanted to do a Daniel story from an outsider POV, or at least mixed. I ended up doing it entirely from Bill Lee's POV for the simple reason I couldn't bear to "beat" Daniel up myself as happens in the "Evolution" canon, so I figured we could extrapolate from Bill...turns out I had a problem beating Bill up too, and it was one of the last scenes I wrote. Bill was merely a plot device/writing technique to me when I started, a blank slate. By the end of the story, I became an unabashed Bill Lee fangirl. So JaS has a special place in my heart.

2)Insurance SNAFU at the CPO
Crackfic aside, this is my only pure humor fic, and even at that, I couldn't avoid the angst factor to "keep it real." Daniel's multiple deaths are just so ridiculous, it was a fun look for me on how many times the man actually did die. I did become attached to Patricia Jennings and described her a bit too much. LOL. It was a flip of the coin that made her Patricia and not "Patrick."

3) Vanquishing Demons
This was my first fully "teamy" fic, my first not directly episode related fic, and my first ficathon experience! Of course I made way too complicated a plot bunny (especially when I was on a *deadline*!), but I was flummoxed on how to write a h/c fic for Teal'c when he has superpowered healing Junior, and so it became this emotional journey. I tried to show Teal'c's POV was warped to his friends and counter it with everyone else's. I'm not sure how well I succeeded, especially since a few parts ended up rushed, but I liked twisting that skewed perspective. In trying to figure out a way out of the team's jam, I pulled a PTB trick with shit blowing up. Sam creating a naquadah enhanced grenade is so OTT, but it makes me laugh every time I think of it. I hope others liked it as well.

4) Dreams Teach,
Dreams Teach is in the list just because it was my first foray into fanfic (and you can tell!). I was inspired because it *really* bugged me why Daniel had enough time to get dressed and get to Shifu and no one bothered to call SG-1/Hammond/the Tok'ra and let them know he was awake! So, you never forget your first, do you? It's still a favorite, warts and all.

5) Many Roads
This story is what I chose for [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde's meme for my "best" fic This story was also a "Daniel from an outsider's perspective" fic again, plus the fact I thought Harrid and Sallis really got screwed in canon. I ended up choosing to do it completely from Harrid's POV (I was actually considering doing Sallis at one point). It was a cool challenge and a nightmare. The man can't blink, or sigh or do ANYTHING! I would never choose such a protagonist again. Also, because Harrid comes to understandings of Daniel as he goes along, I had to write in order to maintain the integrity of the realizations. Like with Bill, I grew to really like Harrid as he let me write him.

Ironically, the scene that almost made me give up this story in despair was the scene where Harrid was actually able to move and talk. I was never getting the tone right. Eventually I broke through my writer's block. It's an odd fic, and since it's not directly dealing with Daniel [or Vala], I'm not sure how many people actually read it, but those who have read it and let me know have given me the most amazing fb for it. When I reread the story months later, I had to agree. I'm very proud of the result. And it also helped me develop a bit more understanding and appreciation for the character of Vala, because I really didn't like her at first on the show.

It was hard, there were a couple I had on the list and took off, including my most recent story (because isn't your favorite always your latest done? Heh.) I reserve the right to change my mind at any time. :-D
