I enjoyed the story so much I didn't notice the POV slips at all, which surprises me now. I got caught up in it--at least twice, because I'm sure I read it at least twice, maybe more.

Pat turned out cooler than I expected her to be when she was first created as comic foil. It's funny how characters do that, isn't it?
I have *so* got to finish "Astral Diner". In short, I see it more as option 2 of your scenarios.
