It was really interesting to hear about what your thoughts were when writing, and what you might do now, as a more experienced writer. That was particularly useful for a novice, such as myself.
I've always thought that the most interesting part of this episode was what we didn't see; Daniel's thoughts and reactions to finding out what he was capable of while under the influence of Goa'uld genetic memory.
On some level, he had to be equally disturbed by trying to pinpoint where his own instincts ended and the Goa'uld influence began.
We know that Shifu was showing him what the memories would do, so we can assume that it was all about the memories (this is Daniel, after all), but I wonder if he would worry about that just a bit, unnecessary though it might be.
I don't think you have to be concerned about the water as fanon, in this case. Is there a single person who doesn't immediately find water after throwing up? I don't think so! And sometimes Daniel really is fine! I figure it's only fanon if he's bleeding all over the floor when he says it. ; )
I didn't even notice the BDU thing. I guess I just figured his clothes were in a little closet, like at the hospital, and he put them on. I must admit, I rarely, if ever, think about things like that. Hmmm. Interesting...
I'd love to hear more about your use of third person. Apparently, most of my stuff is in third person omnicient, but also in limited third person. I'm embarassed to admit that I only know what I looked up on wikipedia about that. It seems that you don't need to know that for either a theater or computer science degree I didn't finish the second one - it was a math thing - but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have brought up third person writing later on.
